Care & Support

You Don't Have to Carry It Alone

Whatever you're walking through — a crisis, a hard season, or just needing someone to pray with you — there's real care here. Reach out, and we'll walk it with you.

Why We Help

We believe no one should face hardship alone. At VBF, care is part of the family — practical help when life shifts, prayer when words feel hard to find, and people who show up. Whether you're walking through a crisis, grieving, or just need a listening ear, you've got a church family ready to meet you where you are.

Three Ways We Show Up

Care at VBF takes a few shapes. Start wherever you need to.

Prayer

After every service, our Prayer Team is available to pray with you personally. You can also submit a prayer request and know that a dedicated team will be praying with you throughout the week, along with special prayer gatherings like our 12 Days of Prayer.

Practical Help

Real help for real-life needs. Food, household items, hospital visits, and pastoral support when life takes an unexpected turn. From our food pantry that's open after every service to nCourage Help, we step in when you need it most.

Real Conversation

Someone to talk to when you need it. Pastoral care, biblical counsel, and a women's spiritual advisor. When something is too heavy to carry alone, we'll sit with you, pray with you, and help you find the next step.

Request Help Now

It starts with a conversation. Tell us what's going on, and a real person from our team will reach out to connect you with the right kind of support — whether that's prayer, practical help, a conversation with a pastor, or a group.

Prayer Is Where We Start

Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone. Submit a prayer request and our VBF family will be praying with you. We believe prayer is powerful—it’s how we bring our needs to God, seek His guidance, and experience His peace in every season.

Practical Help When Life Shifts

Sometimes care looks like groceries, a hospital visit, a bed for your child, or a pastor on the phone in a really hard moment. At VBF, we believe in showing up with practical care and support when life gets heavy—because no one should have to walk through difficult seasons alone.

Someone to Talk To

Some seasons in life require more support. We're not licensed counselors at VBF, but we offer real conversations rooted in Scripture — pastoral care, biblical counsel, and a dedicated women's spiritual advisor for women walking through hard things.

Support Groups for the Hard Seasons

Some chapters of life are too heavy to walk alone. Our support groups are safe spaces to learn, grow, and share with people who have been through similar things. From Celebrate Recovery and Set Free for recovery journeys, to Grief Share for walking through loss, to our Single Moms Group with Bible study and real community for you and your kids — there's real help here for real hard things.

Life's Biggest Moments

Some of life's most meaningful moments deserve a pastor and a church family standing with you. Whether you're celebrating, grieving, or stepping into something new, our team is honored to walk through these moments with you and your family.

Weddings and Premarital

We'd love to be part of your marriage. Our pastors officiate weddings for VBF members and attendees, and every couple walks through our six-week premarital class together first.

Funerals and Memorial Services

If you've lost an immediate family member, our pastors are honored to walk with you through the memorial. Call the church office and we'll help you make arrangements.

Baby and Child Dedications

Once a month — usually the first Sunday — we set aside time for parents to dedicate their kids back to the Lord. Open to any age, from newborn on up.

Baptism

Ready to take this next step? Baptism is a public declaration of your faith, and we'd love to celebrate it with you. Learn more on our Baptism page.

Trusted Partners

Sometimes the best help comes from organizations who specialize in the exact thing you need. We partner with trusted ministries beyond VBF so we can point you to the right people, fast.

Teen Challenge

A long-trusted partner for men and women walking through addiction. We send people there and walk with them through it.

Jason's Retrea t

A retreat space specifically for those who need additional support during a hard season.

And More

We have a wider network of trusted partners across Bakersfield CA — counseling resources, recovery programs, family support, and more. When you reach out, we'll connect you to the right one for what you're walking through.

Upcoming Care Opportunities

Specific moments throughout the year to receive care or come alongside others who need it.

Still Not Sure Where to Start?

That's okay. Send us a note and a real person from our team will reach out. No script, no pressure — just a real conversation about what's going on. You're not alone in this.
